It’s not very often I see hiking gear that legit makes me drool. It’s even less often that I find a gear brand that’s dedicated to making a difference in the world.
That’s why, when I heard from Cotopaxi last week and checked out their incredible gear, I was immediately drawn to help them spread their message. They weren’t asking me to review their products or to (directly) promote their brand. They just wanted me to share with you this infographic they’ve made – It’s called the Guide to Giving.
Cotopaxi is all about giving, to enrich your own life and the lives of others. They base their business around the slogan “gear for good”, promising they’ll use their business to make a positive impact in the world. With their infographic, they’re hoping to inspire you guys to do some good in the world, too. It’s definitely worked on me.
Some of you will remember that I’m a supporter of One Girl’s Do It In A Dress campaign and that I was working on bringing the Youth4Youth Challenge to Melbourne (unfortunately, this hasn’t come to fruition yet, but I haven’t given up), but recently I don’t feel like I’ve been giving enough. Stay tuned for more on what I’m going to do about that in the near future.
For now, I hope the Guide to Giving inspires you as much as it does me…
What do you think? Time to give something back?
Before I move on, I want to point out that I wasn’t paid or given anything in return for writing this post. I’m doing it simply because Cotopaxi offered something that inspired me.
I’m still going to give their backpacks a plug, though, because they’re pretty awesome. I kinda want one for myself but I really don’t need a new backpack, so I’m considering a Kids’ Luzon 15L Backpack (pictured) for our little Fairy Princess. She’ll go absolutely nuts when she sees it.
Cotopaxi are able to do most of their giving through their backpacks, especially with their Luzon del Dia range. The Luzon packs are made with from offcuts that would otherwise end up in landfill. They give their factory employees complete creative control over the final look of each backpack, including the fabric they use, and the screen print, buckle, and thread. Each pack is one of a kind. When I saw this pack I thought it would surely cost a fortune, but it’s only US$19.95… For a one of a kind pack.
I’ll leave you with this video Cotopaxi have made about the Luzon backpacks…
Were you inspired to do some more good? What do you think of the Luzon backpacks? Whatever you’ve got to say, please let us know by commenting below.
